Aranda had one good year as a head coach (2021). He’s currently at 3-2 with losses to the only two ranked-teams he’s played. Estimates are that he’s making $4mil/yr.
He’s the epitome of writing a fat contract for Jimbo after a good year.
Give me a guy that doesn’t have a recognized name yet. That is late 30’s and has the energy and the incentive to create a name for himself.
Jimbo has the skin on the wall with a National Championship. Aranda has a Big 12 Championship. If they don’t make it here - they can just blame the program.

So somebody with no good years?
On the chance we do hire a successful coach, should we fire them after they win something since they lost their incentive to succeed? These are not middle managers at some Fortune 500, almost all of the coaches at this level are competitive as hell and want to win. That’s not the issue
