My biggest concern about the defense is generating a strong pass rush from our edge guys. Lost a lot of production across the entire DL so we're counting on a ton of unproven, albeit very talented, young guys to make a big leap from last year or hit the ground running right away for those new to campus.

A month into the season and we're 100th in the nation in sacks per game because no one can win a 1-on-1 and we're not doing much scheme wise to generate pressure.

We're making due so far, but games vs MSU and Ole Miss are going to be very difficult if the pass rush doesn't improve.

I think its just simply due to inexperience. We have a lot of raw talent on the d-line, but a lot of it is young. Should get better as the season goes on and they gain experience. Should aboslutely pay off in a year or two where we should be giving opposing running backs and QB's nightmares before we play them. Like Clemson a few years ago where their entire line was first round picks.

I do absolutely agree we need to get better pressure now though. It will be long games if the QB has plenty of time to throw.

And force some more turnovers, I'm too lazy to look it up but I bet we arent very high on that either for the season. The Arkansas fumble return is the first one I can remember in awhile. But we havent been big on turnovers for years, even under Elko.
