Sigh

I will be completely underwhelmed and not shocked one bit.

Update: crow never tasted so delicious

I am both overwhelmed and shocked. Thank you Coach Gates for the healthy serving of said crow.

And now I’m sad again.

Can’t be underwhelmed if you had extremely low expectations already. And yet somehow I still am.

What a ho hum pick. I’m hoping this is like the Arkansas St coach trial balloon for football. But it’s national writers releasing this. Not a good sign.

My sources have had nothing. They’ve locked down this search pretty tight. And if it’s Gates, it’s for no reason.

This fricking sucks, but not at all surprised…but damn. Why buyout Cuonzo if this is what you are going to come up with?

Mizzou Athletics is something else.

I’m so glad we’re a pro sports state.

If he can recruit as well as ESPN suggests he can then it wont be bad at all. Ideal? Probably not.

Might not be fair but now this is Missouri so Show-Me that you can recruit and coach and bring that FSU background of playing 10 guys all which can start 20 mins a game on average and running that up-tempo pressure system with freaky big men protecting the rim.

If he can recruit as well as suggested by the pundits he should have no problems getting STL kids, KC kids, and some Link Year kids to CoMo every year.

He has turned things around at Cleveland State but he isn't exactly dominating the Horizon League which could be concerning. Gates has had two good years in a bad conference.

When Arkansas hired Nolan Richardson back in the day we got him from Tulsa where he was winning 76% of his games and had claimed an NIT championship. That is the sort of resume you are looking for. Not... he's doing pretty good at Cleveland State.

Who knows? Maybe he'll be the second coming of John Wooden.

If they make a bad coaching hire, it just frees up more of my time.
Not coming back to basketball in any way until they hire a coach that is a great hire, or the results are apparent on the court.

I went out of town for the weekend and then see this crap just now. This must have come out of nowhere quickly. I had never heard of Dennis Gates on Thursday afternoon when I left my house. I come back and he's the coach.

I wasn't impressed either at the time. But he's been outstanding so far.
