for turning around that program around. They have a good shot at fininshing in the top 3 in the East standings.

Must have learned a lot from Jay, huh?

Condon playing out of his mind
UGA was always a sleeping giant with all the talent in that state, plus they do have a title and a runner up finish
Maybe they finally found the right coach

I thought they were under investigation for some activities in the dugout and bullpen?

We'll see what he does next year. He'll probably lose:

Carlie Condon - projected #1 overall draft pick
Corey Collins - senior
Paul Toetz - 5th year senior
Dylan Goldstein - 5th year senior
Slate Alford - draft eligible junior
Fernando Gonzalez - senior
Clayton Chadwick - 5th year senior

That's 7 of their 9 bats in the lineup

Their pitching staff has been bad, even worse than ours with almost a 7 ERA in SEC play.

They currently have the 8th best signing class in the SEC.

On June 26, 2022, Johnson was announced as the new pitching coach of the LSU Tigers. Leaving his pitching coach role with the first-place Twins for the same position at the NCAA level was reported as a rare move by many in the media, including Jeff Passan.

It makes sense now. He saw a path to eventually become a head coach.

After the 2018 season, the Minnesota Twins of Major League Baseball hired him as their pitching coach.

He may be missed, but you should always want good and talented people to be as successful as possible.

They have a good staff of recruiters and will probably go portal heavy again this year.

They really have no choice with how old their lineup is this year

It's a vicious cycle. Kentucky pretty much has to do it every year now. I'm kind of amazed they've been successful with it for multiple years.

Arkansas has been doing it for a while now too. They barely develop any of their own position players.

A&M did it this year and already have some Ivy League guys lined up for next year, but I think they'll be a more "pick your spot" program overall.

LSU and Tennessee have been "pick your spot" programs. I think it will still be that way this offseason, despite people wanting us to churn the whole roster.

UGA has always been up and down but they had a good run in 2004-2008. Since then, they’ve only made the postseason a few times.

Pure speculation but I think he will finish second behind Corbin. Running out of pitcher sticky substances with 3 series to go is a rookie mistake.

You’re making a lot of assumptions. Alford could definitely come back. Gonzo could too.

Not to mention it’s not a set lineup like you implied. We have 13 different guys with 15+ starts this season. 16 guys with 5+ starts

Yet steadily improving. Leighton Finley and Kolten Smith are both sophomores who have been pitching extremely well these last couple weeks. Just 4 ER over last 33 IP

It seems you’re implying he got lucky by inheriting a very senior team. Not the case at all. Of the 13 players with 15+ starts, 9 are newcomers brought in by Wes. Every pitcher who was on the team last year is pitching better than they ever have.

Anyone who is actually familiar with the team knows he’s done an incredible job this year.

I like the way the pitching has developed this season and the HS arms we’re bringing in. A lot of arms should come back so hopefully it can help offset losing condon. Then it will come down to how good the portal additions will be. Worked out this year but is obviously a year to year thing
