Poor Georgia.

The run is over, they just don't realize it yet.

Ya'll laughed at us during the Barfield years just like you have laughed at us for the past 4 years even as we gave you heart attacks watching the IBs. AU has been good before and we will be good again.

Maybe I'm crazy, but wouldn't those count as four times?

1971 and 1972 seasons - 1
1972 and 1973 seasons - 2
1973 and 1974 seasons - 3
1974 and 1975 seasons - 4

If so, then 1964-1966 would count as 2 times, and so would 1977-1979 and 2014-2016. This would add 4 to the total Bama "back to back" titles listing and give the Tide 10 total back to back SEC titles.

In a similar fashion...as much as I hate to admit it:

Florida
1993 and 1994 season - 1
1994 and 1995 season - 2
1995 and 1996 season - 3

Crazy thing is...they are an Antonio Langham Pick 6 (in the SECCG) away from adding 1991 and 1992 to that string.

I agree!!

I agree as well! Great Information!
I think it’s weird when people on here get upset at facts. A lot of these individuals that get upset went to some of the universities on that list. You would think that someone who paid to be educated would appreciate free factual information

We will get more of these history lessons going forward. Sabans gone and golden flake cant keep up with the haves in NIL. Bama will soon be the Yale of the SEC, talking about titles that no one remembers

So far our Golden Flakes have beat the living hell out of Sam Walton and the Chicken Man.

From 1958-61 we won 3 in 4 years.
From 1984-88 we won 3 in 5 years.
From 2001-2003 we won 2 in 3 years.
From 2007-2011 we won 2 in 5 years.

Not too shabby.

SEC teams that have won consecutive AP national titles in football:

Alabama - 3 (2011-12, 1978-79, 1964-65)
OU - 2 (1974-75, 1955-56)
UGA - 1 (2021-22)

It was not just Coach Saban that has won titles at Alabama.

There is something special about Alabama football as it has not only won SEC titles every decade since the SEC was founded, but won NC every decade (except the 50's and 80's) since the SEC was founded

UGA isn't going to win a national title every year.

But the reality is UGA will likely be a playoff team nearly every season. Since Kirby Smart arrived at UGA, there was only one season UGA didn't finish the regular season in the top 10 (his first year at UGA in 2016). That means had a 12 team playoff existed, UGA would have been in the playoff every season.

With his ability to recruit, that is very unlikely to change for UGA as long as he's there. UGA will be in the playoff to determine the national champion nearly every year as long as Smart remains at UGA simply due to talent acquisition.

And they'll win a national title every now and then because of it. I'd wager UGA gets 1-2 national championships every 10 year period Smart remains at UGA.

That's a conservative way to look at it. The reality is his first 8 years as a head coach, he's had to deal with the GOAT in the same conference. Despite that he made the national championship game 3 times and won the national title twice. Now the GOAT has retired. He also was the only recruiter who won more often than he lost against Smart on the recruiting trail. If you're optimistic about things being easier for Smart due to Saban's retirement, UGA could take a step forward in college football.

I'm really not sure why anyone would be pessimistic about UGA going forward as long as Smart is coaching there.
