Being an expert on the subject, I strongly disagree with your premise. The basketball conference championships, of the last few years, for BAMA, have been very fulfilling. I do believe the regular season champs have a whole lot more to brag about than the tourney winners if a different team wins it. The last 2 SEC titles BAMA won they made a sweep of it, even more enjoyable.

Be sure to post previous successes in the locker room when your team loses. No player cares about history.
Just pull out the asterisk from a previous trophy and tell everyone how you used to win baseball games.
That will surely keep the recruits coming. Actually losing to us in a regional won’t matter.
