Are customers allowed to change the tv channels or do they have to stay on the current channels?

Whether it's a real sports bar with sound, or a Walk On's/Hooters with no sound, I ask my waitperson at a restaurant. They usually get a manager, who will change the TV if he can get the programming I want. Same wit my barber shop. I would not ask at a doctor's office. Might start some kind of melee with someone who actually wants the TV on Dr. Phil.

The wait staff at my pub will put it on any channel you want except for the news. One of the bartenders writes out a chart of what games are on what channels, and changes them immediately after starting his shift. Most of the staff don't know how. That SOB always makes sure the Saints end up on the TV on the other side of the bar from my usual table. Falcons fans!

So, a guy told me about a cool app that allows you to choose the audio to any TV you want, into your earbuds. The audio at my place is always TouchTunes unless the Astros/NFL are on, but if I ask for the Saints/LSU and the Texans/faggy/Cowboys aren't on, they oblige. The app is called "Tunity" on iOS. It scans the screen, figures out what you're watching, and pipes the sound directly to you. I haven't had to use it, but this guy does because he sits outside to smoke.

Used have fun with my old Samsung S10 phone changing channels in bars. Just download the remote control app, pick the appropriate provider or device and change everything to QVC or the 700 Club. It was tougher when they had the receivers in a box behind the bar. But small places that had the receiver right next to the display...cake. But now smartphones don't have the infrared transmitter anymore.
