You can get a Ruger Wrangler for not much more and it’s a solid little 22lr revolver

That's true, and the finish on the Wrangler is head and shoulders above that of the Heritage. Unfortunately, the Wrangler didn't exist yet when I bought my Heritage.

Also, I don't think Ruger has or will ever offer a .22 Magnum option for the Wrangler. It'd cannibalize sales of some really cool, pricey .22 Mag Rugers like the Single Nine.
