Alabama baseball earned a 12-5 win over Auburn on Saturday night at Plainsman Park. With the victory, the 24th-ranked Crimson Tide finished the regular season at 33-21 overall and 13-17 in Southeastern Conference action.

The series finale began at 5 p.m. CT and lasted just over six hours due to a 2:36 weather delay that began in the top of the ninth. Despite the wait, the Crimson Tide was able to finish off the Tigers and earn the No. 7 seed in the 2024 SEC Tournament.

Both teams got on the board with single tallies in the first before the Tigers built a 4-1 advantage after four innings of play with one run in the second and two in the fourth. Alabama tied it up with a three-run fourth and regained the lead with a four-spot in the sixth. Auburn countered for one in the seventh but would get no closer as the Tide widened the gap with four runs in the ninth prior to the delay, highlighted by a three-run homer from Ian Petrutz.

All nine starters recorded at least one hit on Saturday, led by Gage Miller's 4-for-6 showing that included a double, five RBI and three runs scored. Will Hodo matched Miller with three runs, part of his 2-for-4 effort with a walk, while Petrutz finished 1-for-1 with the homer, three RBI, two runs, three walks and a hit-by-pitch.

Ben Hess (5-4) earned the win with another solid start. The junior allowed five runs (three earned) on 10 hits with no walks and nine strikeouts across a career-high tying 6.2 innings of work. He was followed by the tandem of Alton Davis II and Braylon Myers, who tossed 2.1 scoreless frames with one hit and two strikeouts.

From Head Coach Rob Vaughn
"Obviously not the weekend we wanted to have, but I'm proud of the resiliency our guys showed today. We didn't play great early, but our offense settled in behind Ben Hess and we got the win. Now our attention shifts to Hoover and postseason baseball. We don't take it for granted having the opportunity to play beyond the regular season. We will rest up tomorrow and be ready to go against the Gamecocks on Tuesday. I'm looking forward to seeing our fans come support the guys and turn the stands into a sea of crimson."

Based on the bracket I saw, Bama will play the 2nd game on Tuesday at the SEC Tournament in Hoover. Should be somewhere around 12:30 depending on when game 1 ends.

Alabama will now travel to Hoover to take part in the 2024 SEC Tournament. The seventh-seeded Crimson Tide will square off with 10th-seeded South Carolina in the second game of the morning session. Fans can catch all the action on SEC Network.

Tuesday in the SEC Tournament is win or go home day for the bottom 8 teams (not counting Mizzou & auburn who didn’t make it there). Top 4 teams (Tenn, Arkansas, A&M & Kentucky get a bye). After Tuesday it goes to double elimination until Saturday and Sunday, which goes back to single elimination. Let the tournament begin!

Here's a link to the official bracket.

Been like that for a while. Are you just now keeping up with college baseball?

Young fella, no I’m not a college baseball super fan as I am with other sports, but I’ve been following it for 40+ years since at least 1983 when Bama and Dave Magadan lost to Texas 4-3 in the CWS finals. But no, I have never been to a game at Plainsman Park. I have been to Jordan-Hare, the old Beard-Eaves coliseum and Hutsell-Rosen Track for the SEC T&F Championships. Have you ever been there? Did you even know what it was named? That’s what I thought.

I had never noticed the funky angle and that the left field wall is 16 feet shorter than right. Just never paid attention to it. Shoot me. Have a day.

I like our chances with that. Man, if we weren't just absolute dog shite in our road series we would be hosting

Much like our softball team got the benefit of the doubt and got awarded a host spot, the same will occur in baseball.
Except, we are not the team to get that benefit.
Expect the usuals, like LSU, to be awarded a host spot

If we had swept Auburn we had a decent chance of hosting.

We're a projected 3 seed on multiple websites. Alabama is / was nowhere near being a host for a regional

Well that’s not true. Alabama absolutely had a case to be a host just a couple weeks ago. But dropping our last two road series ended that. Our metrics are great. It’s the conference record that’s the major issue.

I’m just happy to most likely be in a regional. This was a battle all year. Guys have played together and played their hearts out all year.

There’s some deficiencies around the roster that we really can’t do squat about right now but it will get better.

I’m happy for Vaughn for likely getting a regional year one. That is no easy task. Happy for the upper classmen that stuck it out and will see some post season play.

This is kinda like basketball when they played UNC with “house money.”

We hit our peak. Let’s see where we can go.

I hope this post isn’t premature but I dont think it is.

Alabama baseball's Zane Adams and Justin Lebron each earned Southeastern Conference postseason honors, the league office announced Monday afternoon.

Adams and Lebron were each named to the league's All-Freshman Team, while Lebron also garnered first-team and all-defensive honors from the conference's head coaches.

The duo are the second All-Freshman pair in as many years after Alton Davis II and Colby Shelton were named to the 2023 list. Lebron's first team accolades are the first for a Crimson Tide player since Sam Praytor in 2021. The Miramar, Fla., native also became the first freshman shortstop in program history to be named a first-teamer and is the first UA shortstop since Josh Rutledge (2010) to be on the league's first team.
