You were #1 in both polls. You lost to Kansas by double digits. And only figs care about vacated wins.

KU had to forfeit two games for cheating that season.

Minnesota, who was named champs by most services, finished 8-2. The championships were stupidly awarded before the bowl games.

Ole Miss finished 10-0-1 and should have been the unanimous choice.

LSU has had 13 seasons of 10 wins or more since the turn of the century. One could say that Saban's arrival had a lot to do with the turn around in success.

Congrats on your success in the new millineum. But the number of regular season games increased to 12 at that time, making it exponentially easier to make it to 10 wins.

win was vacated

That game was declared a forfeit. Therefore, a loss for ku and a win for MU.

Regardless, MU did the right thing by never claiming a national title in 1960. If you lose to ku (even when they cheated), you are not worthy of any such honor.

Winning a Natty in in 42 is disgraceful. What were those young men doing playing ball while their friends went to war?

Correction* #11 - Alabama Polytechnic Institute.

As an apprentice member of this board I have a question for the Auburn people here...

What did they call "Auburn" when it was officially Alabama Polytechnic Institute.

I ask this because here in Oklahoma, Oklahoma State was known as the Oklahoma A&M Aggies until they became the Oklahoma State Cowboys.

And I am old enough to remember when Virginia Tech Hokies were known as the Virginia Poly Tech (VPI) Gobblers. (Hokies was their secondary name back then).

Did local people call Auburn the API Tigers/Plainsmen or did they call them "Auburn" even though it was API.

Auburn has been the Tigers since 1892. When we first played Georgia.
