Shouldn't worry about what the team is going to look like as a fan until a few weeks before the season. It's too hard to keep track of the movement

Poor UGA and GUMP.

For your team, maybe.

For those of us with large, rabid fanbases, things are only going to get better.

Last season watching games I was thinking about how when I was a kid...

Chris Schenkel was the (only) play by play for college football and before a game was over... he had mentioned every players home town.

Now they just mention what school a guy has transferred from.

How?

It's turmoil. Dudes are going into the winter portal and then jumping right back in and going to a different team.

People loved college football cause you could see these kids grow over 3,4,5, even 6 years.

That is the most ridiculous thing I've ever read on the internet.

Large, rabid fanbases mean lots of cash for NIL.

Oh I agree. I wish it could have stayed that way.

But if I have to choose between;

1.) two or three teams being the only teams allowed by the NCAA to pay players, siccing their lapdogs the NCAA on any team that dares to do the same, and

2. NIL and a level playing field,

I choose the latter.

And there's no going back now. They had a good scam going, but that's all over now.

In five years it will be difficult to remember the time when UGA, GUMP and OSU basically controlled college football through corruption of and collusion with the NCAA.

I think Alabama has done quite well in the transfer portal historically and they've hit some needs in the portal with DeBoer this offseason.

I get where people are coming from because Alabama can't squat on 5-star talent quite as easily as before, so talent is a bit more diluted. But the same is true of everyone's talent that isn't starting right away. The product has been diluted across the board but the order of things have not changed all that much...the product has just gotten worse.

Add-on:

In my opinion, college football has been a sloppier product with worse top teams ever since the transfer portal became free agency in 2021. My hot take is that any of the top 6 teams from 2018-2020 final CFP polls would have won a national title in any season since the start of 2021. Certainly the national champions from those seasons would've whipped 2021/2022 Georgia and 2023 Michigan's arse. I know some factions on here don't want to hear the truth but it's true.

Well, duh. When the three favored teams get to stockpile talent while siccing the NCAA on anyone else who tries to do the same, it's easy for them to be good.

Those days are over now. Cry more.

It's easy. Try to follow along.

You wanted NICO. We got NICO. You couldn't have that, so you got the NCAA to hit us with infractions. We then kicked the NCAA in the teeth, bringing the house down.

There's no one to blame but yourself. You got greedy.

Turns out, when your starting QB doesn’t arrive til June & your highly paid 5*’s are shopping for new offers in the middle of their freshman season, it does tend to have an effect on team continuity. Who knew?

CFB as a product is getting worse as they continue to expand the postseason and consolidate the conferences to make it a mature national product.

It is sorta wild the two different currents we have going on now. My doomerpilled brain wants to default to this turning out in ruination of the sport we all love but there is a narrow path where the two forces can be union'd and stabilize the sport.
