Long story short, I have been battling with recurring prostatitis for about 5 years off and on. What started it or what causes it is beyond me or any of the urologists that I have seen. I am younger (about to be 30) and visiting a urologist and being put on antibiotics for over 14 days is literal hell.

Every doctor I have visited has told me it is very common. Naturally that has led me here to see if any other Health/Fitness board baws deal with the same thing.

My symptoms really just include discomfort in that area. Not really anything else. I have been told that it could be more of a nerve issue in my pelvic floor. Or I could just have pelvic floor disfunction. At this point I am just more curious to know if anyone else deals with the same thing.....

I had a similar issue in 2013. Occurred out of nowhere. Drove me crazy. Had a weird tingling feeling, also felt like I had to perpetually climax after peeing. It was hell. Saw several urologist who told me it "was in my head." Finally saw a great one at BR Clinic. Prescribed gabapetin and over time it got much better. Had scopes, all of it. Still don't know what caused it but I think it was nerve related as well. I started working out and that became a habit to clear my head (top one) during this period. It lasted over a year. I changed up my diet significantly and gradually got better and better. Also, did Lexapro for awhile as it made me anxious. It's been years since I had an episode. That period really affected me mentally, created quite a bit of anxiety. I say all that to say....wise man told me stay off message boards because no one ever comes back and says its gets better. Well, I'm here to tell you....it gets better.

Look up pelvic floor physical therapy for prostatitis videos on YouTube. May have some good info there.

Also search for a pelvic floor PT in your area.

I have had it- cut out extremely seasoned foods and it went away

Also it is hard for your prostate to absorb meds so it could take several rounds

Check out Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy.

Also don’t settle for a therapist that wants you to shove a probe up your butt and do kegels while watching a screen for feedback.

You want a PT that may ask to let them perform an internal assessment to happen, but will also have you squat, lift, etc. to actually mimic your activities and goals.

I always recommend looking up a ICE trained PT in your area as they are a fitness forward group

Yup. Been going on like 8 years now. It’s better but still hangs around. I’m convinced it’s nerve related. Wondered about dry needling but it’s expensive.

I had urine flow issues at one point a few years ago, and a nurse practitioner at a urology place immediately told me prostatitis. Prescribed heavy antibiotics that never fixed it.

I got a vasectomy later on, and the urologist was a little worried about it being something worse since it never really cleared up. He ran a few tests and wanted to do a scope to check out my bladder. Turns out I had a stricture in my urethra...Hopefully you don't have that, but it wouldn't hurt getting it checked out if you've taken any direct hits to the dick

I have flare ups, as well. My first bout with was the worst. I had pelvic pain and even dick pain, not to mention being incontinent. It was terrible to go thru, especially being in my 30s. I’ve learned it’s mostly stressed induced and to lay off coffee and nicotine when it starts up. I do this stretching routine in the am https://youtu.be/oyGEVPuumtk?si=qPOlkM1NAOhbSotV
Plus use ibuprofen and flowmax as I’m sure your doc told you to do.

It’s awful to deal with. Urologist gave me 30 days of antibiotic and it didn’t work. He prescribed it even though the urine sample showed nothing. I wasn’t really satisfied with the dr. He wanted to say it was bph even though the symptoms started out of nowhere. I didn’t buy that explanation. And he wanted to put some sort of stint in and I declined that option. I finally starting researching myself. You could try this service which tests for various types of infection. Microgendx

I resolved it sufficiently before actually ordering this test. What helped was a strict keto diet and increased exercise. Of course, I dropped 40 pounds and had to stop that diet because I kept losing weight. It did improve them symptoms. What finally resolved the symptoms sufficiently, and this could be completely coincidental, is when I started taking a b complex supplement and did one bottle of Benfotiamine. I think that was 2 months. I tried it because I read some article about b vitamins helping the bladder. I have no idea if the supplements helped or if the issues just resolved over time. It took me about a year. I was completely unsatisfied with urologist however. I wouldn’t say I am completely where I was before I got the initial infection, but at least I the symptoms of not being able to empty resolved sufficiently that I quit exploring for further solutions. I hope you find some resolution.
