I def understand. It’s a brave new world of college athletics. I will say on the fundraising point…on things like campaigns and whatnot it is very grassroots it’s like voting where if every person feels like “but my little effort won’t make a difference” all that little bit adds up. I mean you see politically even Trump Jr is on Twitter begging the MAGA folks for $5.

We don’t have one single big fish like fatass Yellafella or a T Boone, so where we excel is in the numbers of people who call themselves Alabama fans.

And I’m by no means wealthy but I’m blessed enough to be doing better than what I came from. And I think back to if it was 1999 and I could’ve bought Shaun Alexander or Fernando Bryant dinner legally as a thanks for being bad asses, I definitely would’ve. So it’s kind of cool that we can now. Outside of my family and very close friends I’ve definitely gotten more joy out of Alabama football and basketball than any other thing I regularly pay attention to so I see it as a cool way I can be a part of keeping that success going.

I don’t think about it like that. Maybe I should.

We are the preeminent law school in the state and one of the better public law schools in the South. We may not have many big name billionaires or near-billionaires but we do not lack for high-earners and wealthy alumni off the successful lawyers alone. Yet lawyers aren't the only successful alumni we produce.

I think people fret a bit too much about NIL. You're going to lose some battle because someone is throwing stupid money at college athletes or high school seniors. That is just the new normal.

Great news, you definitely could've bought Fernando dinner legally in 1999 training table at Burke was pretty hard to top most nights, mainly via sheer quantity.
