Ok but that’s what I’m saying. We complain about if our NiL is up to par. Probably not. We’re not hungry anymore. We just came off 6 titles. We feel entitled.

How much joy does Alabama athletics bring you? How much time do you spend on the message boards? Or money spent on Alabama hats and shirts? Pride you feel from your team winning?

And I’m not saying you’re wrong for how you feel. But I am saying that’s where the gap is about to be closed. We feel like we deserve it and would rather spend money on a cookbook. There’s fans out there that are dying just to see one championship.

I feel invested in the team and want to be a part of why we win but I won’t tell you you’re wrong for not feeling that way. I’ll just tell you that’ll be why we backslide.

All fair points to be honest. And maybe I’d feel differently if we hadn’t won a title since 92 (what a freaking year that was!). But if the difference between winning and losing is people like me writing checks, I think we are in trouble.

I give to the collective monthly, but I completely understand why others don’t.

I chose to give because I get a lot of joy and entertainment out of Alabama sports. Going to games and cheering on the athletes is something my family enjoys and does together, which is nice. And I believe that our athletic program can change kids lives for the better.

That being said, asking your average fan to fund the collective while also increasing tide pride and ticket prices and nickel and diming folks at the concession stand is not a sustainable model, and when the AD is worth hundreds of millions, I can see why a lot of people are turned off by that.

Collective bargaining needs to get here so we can move on from this current NIL era.
