So, 5 top 40 portal kids out and 4* (one they just got back) in. Doesn't sound so bad.

Outside of Downs and to a lesser extent Bond, not a lot of crucial loss.

Downs was special and will likely be an all American. But they replaced him with Sabb from Michigan. Sabb is not Downs. But he would start for most if not all SEC teams.

Bond was definitely improving. But Bernard, who transferred in to take his spot, looked excellent this spring.

Sayin would not have started this year. He would have been buried down the depth chart. If he had stayed he might have competed for the starting job in a year or two. Coming out of the spring he would have been 3rd or 4th on the depth chart.

Niblack showed flashes and had a high ceiling. But he also just seemed to disappear at times and did not seem to be too enthusiastic about blocking. And this year that will be very important. He is a loss, but he was not a dominate tight end.

Dezz Ricks may have had a higher upside, but Domani Jackson (who transferred in to replace him) is a better player right now.

All the losses were replaced by solid experienced players.
