Correction* #11 - Alabama Polytechnic Institute.

As an apprentice member of this board I have a question for the Auburn people here...

What did they call "Auburn" when it was officially Alabama Polytechnic Institute.

I ask this because here in Oklahoma, Oklahoma State was known as the Oklahoma A&M Aggies until they became the Oklahoma State Cowboys.

And I am old enough to remember when Virginia Tech Hokies were known as the Virginia Poly Tech (VPI) Gobblers. (Hokies was their secondary name back then).

Did local people call Auburn the API Tigers/Plainsmen or did they call them "Auburn" even though it was API.

Auburn has been the Tigers since 1892. When we first played Georgia.
