Did I say Thorne was playing great? And Freeze can say the OL was doing whatever, but once a QB is ratted due to shite OL play they aren’t likely to recover.

Thorne is terrified. He’s terrified of any pressure and terrified to get rid of the ball. It’s very Jeremy Johnson or Kiehl Frazier-esque how he absolutely freezes up. Expected more from a Hugh Freeze offense.

Former massive fan who didn't bother watching. Figured we'd go down fighting, not get rolled like this though. 3pts on the board by the offense. Seen it happen over and over again... a decent D that doesn't get any support from the offense will eventually wear down and break.

For all the hype and 'trending' on Twitter about how awesome the portal and recruiting was going, it was just one year. It could have only been so good and there's no way to create depth with one class.

I had hoped traveling out to CA & getting a taste of what 'the road ' can offer, we'd have been better prepared. I get it, Berkley isn't College Station. Or Knoxville, Gainesville, etc.. but damn.

This was game 4. The standard view is that we see the most improvement from games 1 to 2.

Still a long way to go .

Robby had a lot of opportunities yesterday, we scored zero points. Did not make the run game better.

Thorne sucks, deer in the headlights. Go with Holden and see what happens. The concern is our oline sucks.

We are screwed.

I suppose for every Cam and Nick, there's gonna be an equal downside with QB transfers.

Can't pick 'em all.

Our QBs suck.

beatbammer said something yesterday that got my attention. He said that we much be paying for some kind of horrific crime or injustice we have done from years past with our QB position.

Other than a couple of transfer guys that only played a few years and one legacy QB that transferred out, we have absolutely sucked at that position, no matter the coach, for damn near 20 years. Haven't we suffered enough?

WTF. Auburn is a top 15-20 program and we are the anti-quarterback program.

Just spend a few mins of your Sunday looking at this list and think about it. Then think about other programs who are basically even with us and think about theirs.

Robby Ashford
Thorne
JF3
Sean White
Jeremy Johnson
Johnathan Wallace
Keihl Frazier
Kody Burns
Chris Todd
Clint Mosley
Barrett Trotter
TJ Finley

The good

Bo Nix - 2 years
Cam Newton - 1 year
Nick Marshall - 2 years
Jarrett Stidham (Him being in the good should tell you all you need to know)

I do not know what our elders did to cast this curse upon the program but we need to kill something to remove it. Sacrifice may be needed

Well then get him out. All he did was freeze in the pocket

He literally saw a DB coming at him. He had the time to
get rid of it. He still took the sack because he choked.

We had 217 yards vs Mizzou and that included OT and was at home. Also many other shite games. Harsen helped create this situation, with no recruiting. We have sucked for 4 years now. There is no quick fix, even Prime’s team sucked when playing against good talent. Stay positive my friends, we will see better days, but for now we suck.

Exactly. Just imagine how bad we would be if we kept Harsin. Another offseason of his recruiting would've completely paralyzed our roster. It's bad now, but with our current recruiting there is hope it will get better.

You're right, but you're letting your Chex hate blind you to the fact that Bo's footwork while here was AW-FUL because he was under constant threat of having to run for his life. Watch his feet at UO. Even when flushed from the pocket, he now sets his feet prior to throwing. He never could bring himself to do that at AU even when not under pressure. So Chex was right too.

Thorne doesnt have a footwork problem. Chex is only right in saying Thorne is playing scared.

Bo tried to make chickensalad out of chicken shite.

Thorne just simply drops.

This is not arguing btw. I dont know where Lanier gets i argue with everyone from but he is apparently back to making up shite. This is a conversation

And has not been given legit reps in practice
Thorne had enough time to throw the ball away on most plays. On plays when he had guys open he missed them. He has a tendency to pat the ball for an extra 1-1.5 seconds instead of making a read and letting it rip. When the defense brings blitz, he doesn’t seem to have any ability to recognize what coverage deficiency the blitz will cause, which is how you punish blitzes. I’m not sure if he’s playing scared or if the game is just too fast for him.

This. Holden has been running scout team off of postcards. Can’t expect him to hop in for the fourth quarter and be a world beater.

If we think Thorne isn’t going to turn the corner, we have 3 weeks to LSU. Start getting Geriner reps now. That said, everyone’s favorite player is the backup QB until he actually gets the start and reality hits.

If it’s Ashford - he needs the entire offense to be based around his running ability. He could be good in a malzhan-like system but that’s an entire offensive scheme, and I’m not sure he has the downfield arm Cam/Nick did nor is he as good of a runner as those guys. For that scheme to work, you need an insane amount of mesh reps with the QB and RB plus the QB just needs a “knack” for it. He has a tendency to dance and run east/west and he is maybe trying to set up blocks. He’s a tick too slow to pull that off at the SEC level or he’s just not doing it quite correctly. I’d like to see him plant a foot and slash upfield off of those edge blocks and run through one arm of a DB.

Not the arm strength, but he ran all over uat like no other QB ever has.

My point is to run that offense consistently you have to be able to punish cheating safeties with a good deep ball. Against cal with Ashford in the game the safeties were crashing into run support.
