Alabama baseball suffered an 8-1 loss to 16th-ranked Mississippi State on Saturday afternoon at Dudy Noble Field. The Bulldogs clinched the series with the victory while the 17th-ranked Crimson Tide moved to 28-18 overall and 9-14 in Southeastern Conference action.

Alabama was first to strike on Saturday thanks to a solo homer from Max Grant in the third. State came right back with three runs in the home half of that frame to take the lead for good. The Bulldogs added one more in the fourth to go with a pair of runs in both the sixth and eighth innings for the 8-1 victory.

Jurrangelo Cijntje (7-1) picked up the win with 7.0 innings of one run baseball, giving up seven hits to go with eight strikeouts. Zane Adams (4-3) suffered the loss despite a solid start. The freshman allowed four runs (three earned) on four hits and three walks with four strikeouts across his 5.0 innings of work.

"Our team fought their butts off today. We told them postgame that we were just extremely proud and appreciative of their effort out there. We competed all game with a really good Mississippi State team but playing on the road with the limited pieces that we had, we just weren't able to get it done."
