I wouldn’t mind seeing a 4-4-1 format but I don’t think each school would have a neutral site close enough to accommodate attendees.
UGA and UF have Jacksonville; OU and TX have the Cotton Bowl. Alabama and Auburn used to play games at Legion Field but that complex was crumbling and located in a bad area. Ole Miss and MSU had games in Jackson, usually against each other but also against LSU (at least in the case of the former). SC has played games in Charlotte but that’s usually against non-conference opponents (I think they play the other Carolina there to start the upcoming season). There’s probably other examples that I can’t think of atm, but does every school have that opportunity?
