And a losing record to LSU in our history! Also a losing record to LSU since the millennium. You play in the weak east while we play Bama every year. It’s pretty simple!

There is no arguing this for now at least.

Based on what?

Georgia

National titles: 4

Playoff Record 5-1

Conference Titles: 16 (14 SEC)

Division Titles: 10

Bowl Record: 37-21-3

All-Time Wins: 868

LSU

National Titles: 4

Playoff Record: 2-0

Conference Titles: 16 (12 SEC)

Division Titles: 11

Bowl Record: 30-24-1

All-Time Wins: 831

Only thins LSU has an advantage in is series record and division titles everything else is tied or in favor of Georgia, although it is pretty amazing how similar these two are now

The east and west go in cycles, the east had the head to head this season, this isn’t 2015 anymore

You can keep going down the list of comparisons, and there is very little separation.

Weeks ranked in AP poll
LSU: 648
UGA: 644

Weeks ranked #1
LSU: 38
UGA: 36

All-Americans
LSU: 39
UGA: 39

LSU historically has played the least amount of games against the other BIG 6 members. Historically UGA has a harder schedule with a higher win %.

UGA is a clear #2

LSU #4 behind Tennessee

How you gonna be ahead of LSU with less titles and a losing record against us historically?

LSU and UGA have = national titles (4) and UGA has 2 more SEC titles. Total conference titles, LSU has 16 and UGA 15

Honestly, UGA and LSU's numbers, whether it's weeks ranked, weeks #1, titles, etc are almost dead even across the board

No one counts Georgia’s claimed ‘42 title. Georgia has 3 and LSU has 4.

REALLY close, but Georgia doesn't have to play against Saban's team every year, and didn't have to play against the Bear every year.

Slight edge to LSU.

The east was also beast in the 90s with Florida and UTk, and that was with UGA being down. Of course, Bama was on probation for a good portion of it; same with Auburn IIRC. LSU was a coaches’ carousel during that time as well.

ETA: how many teams won the west in that decade? I know Arky and MSST won at least once each.

If Georgia claims 1942, LSU gets 1908.

Tennessee has more national titles, claimed and unclaimed, than LSU and Georgia.

UGa actually has 3 national titles (1980, 2022, and 2023), although it really should only be 2022 and 2023. Their 1980 title is infamous because the strength schedule set a record for being "weak." Their conference slate was against the six bottom SEC members, and their non-conference schedule was against the 2 worst Southwest Conference teams and the 7th place and last place independents...best opponent was a 6-5 Clemson team (4th place in the ACC). Basically played 11 warm-up games before playing the 4th place independent team in a bowl game to claim the natty.

Tennessee has only two: 1951 and 1998. However, the 1951 title was awarded before bowl games, and UTenn lost its bowl. The general consensus is that if the pollsters' vote had been held after bowl games, then Maryland would have easily won the vote, and UTenn would have dropped several places in the rankings. In other words, UTenn really only has the one 1998 title to brag about.

I get the Tennessee hatred on the Rant…but rewriting history takes it to another level. Well done!

Sure.
UGA scheduled Tennessee, Auburn, Clemson, Texas A&M. and Georgia Tech in 1980 because they all were pushovers (all in top 25 wins for college football. Florida is now. I don't know if they were back then or not).
Clemson, Texas A&M, Kentucky, and Florida had some damn good years in the 70s.

UGAs entire purpose to was recruit Herschel and pick the softest schedule against all of our annual rivals (Clemson, Ole Miss, Vandy, Ole Miss, South Carolina, Florida, Auburn, and Georgia Tech... 4 of which happen to be top 25 all time in wins. And to fit Tennessee back into the rotation... top 25 all time in wins).
