I can't believe we have someone that isn't a catcher in the lineup hitting .188.

Even lower now.

Wilmsmeyer is batting .185 overall and .157 in SEC play.

As I’ve said before, he needs to sit and only be a situational late inning defensive substitute going forward.

If Diggs is back healthy and gets to swinging a good stick again it's maybe the difference between a natty or not. His bat is that important.

I’m glad we finally provided Hagen some run support. It looked to be yet another low scoring Friday night nail biter until our bats came around in the 6th and then unloaded in the 7th.

Hopefully Lovich having a good game means Wilmsmeyer is finally glued to the bench. We need to cement Holt in CF and platoon Edmunson and Lovich in LF.

Approach at the plate was as good as it has been all season. Didn’t force too much, made them throw a ton of pitches. Picked good pitches to hit and hit them square for the most part. Hope to see more of that.

You could tell their starter was absolutely spent by the 6th.

We worked the hell out of their bullpen and got to a lot of 3 ball counts.

I don't want to see Wilmsmeyer at the plate again. Ever.

He'll start again today because DVH can't help himself

I dunno, DVH can be stubborn but I think he’s been wanting someone else to work themselves into that 3rd OF spot with Holt and Diggs.

Wilmsmeyer has been pinch hit for a lot this season. It’s obvious that DVH doesn’t trust him in any sort of pressure situation at the plate. Unlike Bolton and Rowland last year who played arguably the two most critical positions and had no one to back them up, his position is easier to replace defensively.

I’m not a believer in Lovich, but he is slashing .267 / .450 / .457 in SEC play, whereas Wilmsmeyer is slashing .158 / .250 / .175, which is historically low and makes John Bolton’s slash line last year look like 2003 Barry Bonds by comparison.
